Rapid Racoon is a dynamic racing game in which we sit at the helm of one of the futuristically designed cars. It can therefore be concluded that this product makes a very clear reference to the cult Wipeout series, offering a similar gameplay character. The French development studio DK Games is responsible for the preparation of this game. The company has also won such titles as My Little Flufties or Tribes War. This racing game has been released exclusively for owners of Nintendo DS portable consoles.
We start the game by choosing between three available antigravitational vehicles. Each of the available machines is described by several specific coefficients, showing, among other things, maximum speed or extremely important controllability. In the next phase of the game it is also possible to unlock several other cars. They are rewarded for winning certain championship modes and choosing higher difficulty levels. The differences between them are particularly noticeable. At the lowest difficulty level, for example, enemies move at reduced speed. Selecting the most difficult settings will result in a very aggressive ride.
In the course of the game, we not only deal with the efficient passing of successive corners or searching for possible shortcuts, but also collecting various types of power-ups. Mostly these are objects, thanks to which it is possible to hinder the life of opponents. These can be rockets, mines, or more powerful bombs. The races are played in three basic types of environments, representing different corners of the universe. These can be factories, uninhabited areas and even space stations.
In addition to the single player campaign, a full-fledged multiplayer was also naturally taken care of. Rapid Racoon visual luminaire has a relatively high level of workmanship. The top screen of the console is used to display the three-dimensional environment and the futuristic car viewed from the third person's perspective. The lower screen shows the map of the current route or the position of enemies.
