The story of the game takes place in a grim future filled with terror, in which a ruthless corporation incessantly invigilates citizens. To keep all members of the society in line, the corporation poisons their minds by drugging them with a mysterious mineral.

Plot

The story takes place in a distant future, which by developers’ intentions is not a very optimistic one – it is a world filled with terror, where a ruthless corporation incessantly invigilates citizens. To keep all members of the society in line, the corporation infects their minds by drugging them with a mysterious mineral. Randall – the titular character – decides to bring down this regime, as he is one of the last people who retained their free will. During his mission, Randall can use his powerful telepathic abilities, which allow him to read others’ thoughts and jump straight into enemies’ minds.

Mechanics

The PC and PS4 release of Randall features cartoonish graphics, while the basic gameplay mechanisms follow the conventional ones known from similar 2D platform games. The gameplay builds on exploration, getting through the obstacles, and fighting numerous foes. A player can utilize Randall’s powers both during battles and while solving logical puzzles. The game introduces two kinds of maps – the former features areas in the real world, while the latter comprises locations existing only in the enemies’ minds. During the game, a player has to make decisions that will eventually lead him to one of several available story endings.
