You remember the final scene from King Kong, when a giant monkey climbed to the top of a skyscraper and from there attacked flying units coming from all over the world. If so, and what's more, you would like to repeat these themes on your computer screen, Rampage is the perfect game for you. Of course, climbing a skyscraper wouldn't make much sense, that's why the authors of the game decided to add some color to our task. As one of the three mutated monsters (Georgie the Big Ape, Lizzie the Lizard and Ralph the Wolf), we will have to ruin the area, completely destroying the structures on the board.
All monsters have unique abilities, so the gameplay of each of them may be fundamentally different. Ralph has the strongest fist punch, Georgie is the perfect ski jumper and Lizzie is the fastest of the whole package. In order to complete one of the eighty boards planned by the authors of the game, all available buildings have to be razed to the ground. The player does this by climbing up the façade of the building and making holes in its structure. When the building resembles a sieve, it will collapse spontaneously.
In the total destruction of the area we will be disturbed by the army: helicopters attacking from the air and a regular army, most often leaning out of the windows. Soldiers, apart from being very stubborn, are also an excellent snack to raise the level of energy. Remember that the life of a mutant monster does not last forever and taking too many shots into the frame can end tragically. Breakfast in the form of warriors, however, will allow you to survive the most difficult moments.
Rampage can be played simultaneously by three people at the same computer. The caterpillar that all monsters do at once is simply incredible and has a great influence on the product's playability. Audiovisual is quite decent, although it's a pity that 256-colour VGA mode hasn't been chosen.
