Railway Empire 2: High Voltage

Railway Empire 2: High Voltage is an expansion to the economic strategy titled Railway Empire 2, which debuted in 2023. The add-on focuses on modernizing transport by introducing electric energy. It was developed by the Gaming Minds Studios team, responsible for both the base version of the game and titles like Tortuga: A Pirate's Tale and Port Royale 4.

Gameplay

The key element of the Railway Empire 2: High Voltage DLC is the ability to use electricity, which gradually replaces steam-powered trains. Thanks to new technological advances, we successfully lay tracks through mountains and gorges. The add-on introduces two scenarios - "High Voltage" starting in 1914 and "Power to the People" with the action starting in 1920. During the scenarios we try to show traditionalists the advantages of electric railways, in order to eventually become a true powerhouse of transportation.

Additionally, in Railway Empire 2: High Voltage we gain access to a new region, namely Switzerland. Ten new local products, like iconic pocket knives and herbal candies, have also been added. To transport them, we use ten machines modeled based on authentic trains (including the Ce 6/8 III Krokodil and PRR GG1 Blackjack).

The DLC also introduces twenty musical tracks and new sound elements for locomotives.

Technical aspects

Railway Empire 2: High Voltage is a non-standalone add-on, so it requires the base version of the Railway Empire 2 game to run.
