Project Nimbus is a dynamic action game in a science-fiction setting. The game was developed by studio GameCrafter.

Plot

The story of the game takes place at the end of twenty first century, a few decades after a great war destroyed the surface of Earth to such degree that humans were no longer able to live there. The survivors escaped to the orbit and split into three factions. They fight each other by using both airships and flying mechs known as BattleFrames. The developers prepared a large story campaign that tells the tale of a young pilot at the onset of his career.

Mechanics

Project Nimbus focuses on mech battles. They have a Japanese style inspired by many animated series – a style that isn’t common on PC. It means that the robots controlled by player move very fast and they spend most of their time in the air, not on the ground.

Dynamical aerial battles are the heart of the game. During them, the player faces dozens of enemies and the sky is filled with rockets and missiles. In addition to regular enemies, one must also face aces – enemies with their own story background, personality and battle style. In addition to that, one must fight giant flying fortresses as well. The mechs can be very fast and the trip from the planet surface to the orbit takes only a few minutes. The game doesn’t limit the freedom of movement in the air and the additional boosters allow performing very fast maneuvers in the air.
