An action adventure game which is a remake of the 1989's Prince of Persia, one of the most popular platformers of all time, originally developed Broberbund Software. The game was created by Ubisoft Motreal and Jordan Mechner – the father of the original game, who worked on The Sands of Time as consultant and lead designer.
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for PC, PS2 and etc. is the fourth instalment in the popular adventure games series started in 1989 by Jordan Mechner and published by Broderbund. The new edition, fostered by Ubisoft Entertainment, was developed by the famous studio from Montreal, the fathers of e.g. Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell. The game was developed under the watchful eye of the mentioned programmer and the initiator of the saga – Jordan Mechner.
Plot
Another instalment of the Persian prince’s adventures is set in a fictional Middle Eastern country during the fullest bloom of the Middle Ages. The main hero comes back from the wearisome military campaign and stops in at a friendly ruler’s palace. Inside, he meets a treacherous Vizier who tricks him into releasing the legendary Sands of Time that pose a gruesome threat to the world. Unexpectedly, a beautiful, mysterious, and potentially unworthy of trust woman shows up. She gives the hero a helping hand in bringing the reality back to its normal shape.
Gameplay
Gameplay of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time published on PC, PS2 and etc. consists of exploration of various locations featuring oriental architecture and characteristic flora and fauna, fighting enemies, and collecting power of the Sands from their bodies. The Sands are the source of the supernatural powers of time control, which give the Prince an edge over hordes of enemies. The authors ensured maintaining all the elements characteristic for the Prince of Persia series – very realistic animation and clever combat system.
Technical aspects
The gameworld observed from various angles of TPP cameras is highly interactive. The 3D graphics are powered by Jade engine, which utilises many advanced functions.
