Nintendo Life: 8 / 10 by Ryan Craddock
Portal Knights has been designed in such a way that encourages co-operative play; sharing the fun of exploring the worlds and discovering new things together is undoubtedly one of the game's largest selling points. If you would rather play the game alone, though, there is nothing stopping you from doing so and you'll still find that there is an enjoyable adventure to be had (albeit with a slightly different focus on how to go about completing tasks).Sitting somewhere between the Minecraft-type gameplay of building and exploring, and the RPG-like features of crafting, battling, and upgrading your character's skills and abilities, Portal Knights feels like it would most suit families, friends or even distant friends online, who wish to explore either of these genres of gaming together in a sometimes challenging - but usually charming - package.
TheSixthAxis: 6 / 10 by Gareth Chadwick
Ultimately, Portal Knights aims to put RPG elements and Zelda-style combat into a Minecraft-like game. Minecraft works because everything is systemic. It's huge, but everything you can find conforms to particular conditions – diamond only appears below a certain height, sugar cane is found on sand next to water, etc. – so you know where to look. When you remove these systems, you have a Portal Knights island; the resources are all over the place, at any height, and if you can't see them, you want you need another island. It removes the incentive to explore, because there is nothing to find.
ZTGD: 8 / 10 by Wyatt Daniels
Portal Knights certainly takes inspiration from Minecraft, but does enough different to stand on its own. It's procedurally generated environments and visuals impress the most, which make for a nice laid-back adventure.

Portal Knights Description
Portal Knights for PC, PS4 and etc. is a fantasy game that combines the mechanisms of RPG with elements and style of sandbox productions like Minecraft. Project was developed by Keen Games studio, the creators of Sacred 3.
Story
Game takes us to a fantasy realm made of blocks, that is composed of dozens of islands, connected by magic portals. Centuries ago, the world was torn to pieces and the main task of the player is to find a way to merge it together again. Story in this game plays a relatively small role and is nothing more than a pretext for playing.
Gameplay
Portal Knights for PC, PS4 and etc. belongs to the action RPG genre, and as in most productions of this type, before we start the adventure we have to create a hero. We do it by determining protagonist's sex, appearance, and above all, we choose one of three professions – warrior, mage and ranger. Wide range of abilities and equipment allow us to easily match the character with our playing style.
During the adventure, we have to explore lands and dungeons lying there, complete quests, develop the character and fight enemies. Combat system is heavily arcade and in addition to fights with standard enemies, we'll also encounter clashes with powerful bosses. In addition to all of this, comes a building aspect characteristic for sandbox games like Minecraft.
Within its framework, we collect resources and then use them to construct new items, of which there's more than a hundred in total. There is also a possibility to construct our own buildings. All maps are randomly generated. Player can play alone or with up to three companions in co-op mode.
