Pixel Gear Description
Pixel Gear for PS4 and PC is a first-person shooter set in a gothic scenery. The project was developed by Oasis Games. Pixel Gear was created specifically for VR goggles and requires dedicated motion controllers in addition to that.
Mechanics
In Pixel Gear for PS4 and PC, the player takes on the role of a shooter whose task is to face subsequent waves of enemies approaching from all directions. Similar to other projects developed on the basis of the VR technology, the player cannot move here, but only look around freely by moving their head. The player's goal is thus to eliminate subsequent targets – aiming is done with a motion controller.
The game features different enemy types – skeletons are regular opponents here, but one also encounters ghosts attacking from the air, bats, as well as characters resembling the infamous movie monster Frankenstein. While defeating them is not particularly problematic, occassional boss fights require more involvement. Consequently, switching between weapons effectively is the key to success. The player chooses their weapon once a wheel-shaped menu appears. Apart from an infinite-ammo pistol, one will find here more sophisticated weapons, such as machine guns or shotguns. What is also essential when playing the game, is to make use of special abilities that get recharged alongside progression. Those allow the player to slow down the passage of time for instance.
Technical aspects
Pixel Gear for PS4 and PC offers pleasing, three-dimensional visuals. In terms of the art style, the game resembles the classic Minecraft, because of both its pixelated environment and enemy models, as well as a rich color palette.
