Phantom Dust HD is a remastered version of the 2004 action game released for Xbox. Just like the original, it was developed by one of Microsoft Studios' in-house developers. The game features improved visuals, interface, and controls. Multiplayer mode was also expanded. Phantom Dust HD takes us to a post-apocalyptic world, where Earth is covered with deadly dust that forced what was left of mankind to go underground.

Phantom Dust HD for PC and XONE is a remaster of the 2004 Phantom Dust released for the first Xbox console. Like the original game, the HD remaster was developed by one of the Microsoft Studios’ internal developer.

The Plot

The game takes place in non-defined future, on a post-apocaliptic version of our planet. Its surface covered with deadly dust which forced what was left of mankind to go underground. It was then that Espers, people bestowed with the supernatural power of controlling the deadly dust, began to appear among the survivors. Only they can survive on the planet’s surface.

The demise of our civilization lead to the situation where mankind lost most of its knowledge about the history, and nobody remembers what actually caused the catastrophy. That is why Espers go on dangerous journeys to the surface to find precious artifacts and the reason behind Earth’s current state.

The plot in Phantom Dust HD for PC and XONE tells the story of two Espers who were awakened from their cryogenic sleep. They both suffer from amnesia and decide to go to the planet’s surface in order to find a way to recover their memories. We play as one of them.

Mechanics

Phantom Dust HD for PC and XONE is an action game with elements of a card game. The underground city serves as a Hub where we can buy new skills and items, and accept various quests. Our missions take place mostly on the surface, and focus on fighting with hordes of enemies.

The Arsenal plays a crucial role during combat. It is a deck of skill cards, either found during missions or bought (there are over three hundred cards available). There is a limit of how many cards we can have equipped at the same time how we can combine them, so it is advisable to think through our strategy before leaving the hub.

Game Modes

Phantom Dust HD offers both single player campaign and a competitive multiplayer mode for up to four players who fight against each other on closed arenas.

Technical Aspetcs

Phantom Dust HD for PC and XONE uses the same visual elements as the 2004 original. They were, however, tweaked. Interface and controls were also refurbished and improved. Gameplay mechanic remain the same.
