PewDiePie’s Tuber Simulator for AND and iOS is an economic strategy, enriched with simulation parody elements. The game uses a free-to-play model with microtransactions. The developer responsible is Outerminds, also credited for the platform game PewDiePie: Legend of the Brofist. As can be noticed in the title, both games use the PewDiePie brand. This is the pseudonym of an incredibly popular youtuber, whose real name is Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg.

Mechanics

The game allows the player to assume the role of a person making a living from creating YouTube movies. PewDiePie’s Tuber Simulator for AND and iOS attempts to realize this idea through mechanisms, which connect the elements of economical strategy with a life simulator like The Sims. We begin in a small, seedy room, while our task is to organize the day of our hero in such a way so he can pull-in more audience.

The money earned in this way allow for moving to a better apartment, and investing in professional equipment, which results in better movies that gather even more fans. This cycle will finally lead to us being one of the greatest stars of YouTube.

However, aside from taking care of business, we need to take care of the hero himself: take care of his needs and invest in his growth.

Technical Aspects

The game employs an isometric camera, and a retro stylistic, full of huge pixels. The developers focused on absurd and very specific humour, familiar for PewDiePie viewers.
