Petz Wild Animals: Dolphinz belongs to the Petz game series promoted by Ubisoft. Similarly to other games of the series, this is a production aimed at the youngest animal lovers. As the title suggests, the main attraction is dolphins, but there are also other sea-dwellers in the game. Dolphinz was prepared by Magic Pockets development studio, who, in the past, specialized in games for Gameboy Advance console (e.g. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance or Inspector Gadget: Advance Mission).
The producer prepared a large water park set on a tropical island. Here, you spend your free time and make friends with animals. There are a dozen or so different animal species, including the ones endangered with extinction. Apart from dolphins, you can observe penguins, orcas, whales, sharks, rays, and flamingos. The animals in your entertainment park require your constant watch. Taking special care of these animals is the game’s core feature. You have to feed animals, take care of their health, and improve their satisfaction. Each species has its detailed description, which helps you make proper decisions faster. Animals are also trained in order to be able to do more and more complicated tricks, which increases popularity of your park. Thus, acquired funds can be spent on renovations, improving quality of life of your animals, or buying additional attractions.
In the game, you also do missions given by non-playable characters, many of which are of educational value. You get to know more about the animals and their habits, and try to save some species from extinction. Although you play solo, you can communicate with others wirelessly, e.g. to invite your friends to visit your entertainment park. The game features fully 3D graphics and neatly animated animals. You can observe the game world from many different perspectives – either form above or in full zoom.
