We set out on a desert island with the intention of saving endangered species inhabiting the surrounding waters. In our free time we play with the creatures we meet, using the touch screen and the microphone of the DS console.
Petz Rescue Ocean Patrol belongs to Petz Rescue game series released by Ubisoft company. The player tries to save endangered animal species and interacts with the sea dwellers.
You play as one of two characters: Greg or Mila. The protagonists go to a tropical island to help their uncle rescue animal species endangered of extinction. There, they patrol nearby waters and help animals in need.
Obviously, one of the game’s biggest advantages is the variety of interactive animals. These include e.g. sea lions, dolphins, sharks, turtles, penguins, and even whales. In helping sick animals you use a boat, where they are treated and cared for. The process of treating animals requires you to follow simple onscreen instructions. You also have to provide food for sick animals. When you release them back into the sea, you can further observe how they react.
A large stress was put on creating a bond with animals. It is especially true for dolphins – you can dive with them and even try to communicate. The latter aspect uses DS console’s microphone.
Ocean Patrol sports neat graphics thanks to 3D environment and detailed animations of animals. What is more, the game gives you much freedom in exploring the island and its surrounding waters.
