A classic turn-based strategy in which we participate in a fictitious conflict between China and NATO troops. We have nine major campaigns and more than 30 individual scenarios to play out.

People's General is a strategy game in which clashes are played in turn-based system. The development studio Strategic Simulations is responsible for its preparation. This product is a development of ideas presented mainly in the second part of the Panzer General saga, although it also refers to other productions of the developer, such as Steel Panthers.

People's General takes place in the early years of the 21st century, offering a fictitious conflict between NATO troops and the People's Republic of China. China, affected by overcrowding and a shrinking number of its own raw materials, is conquering neighbouring lands, with plans to take full control of the Asian continent. NATO's task is to bring order to the region. During the game fights are fought throughout Asia, although the central part of this continent definitely prevails.

The producer took care of a very wide range of available gameplay modes. People's General has nine campaigns to offer, in which subsequent missions are defeated in the order set by the manufacturers. Before the start of each campaign, a short video is shown, describing the historical background and general assumptions of the subsequent levels. In addition, the game has more than 30 individual scenarios, as well as multiplayer modes, allowing up to four people to fight. This can be done in a traditional way or with the use of electronic mail (so-called Pbem). People's General also has a built-in scenario editor.

People's General is distinguished by its great accessibility, requiring no special preparation on the part of the player or knowledge of the units taking part in the fights. Control is based on the use of a very readable interface, using which appropriate commands are given. There are many different types of troops at the player's disposal, including infantry, tanks and helicopters.

The fights are played on hexagonal maps. It is worth adding that People's General was one of the last strategies developed by Strategic Simulations, in which fights were conducted in a two-dimensional environment. However, this applies only to the environment, since individuals are already three-dimensional, nicely animated models.
