Path of Exile: Mobile is a mobile version of the famous action RPG, which was created for online gameplay (although most of the content can also be experienced solo). The game offers almost identical gameplay like the original Path of Exile, although the creators made a few minor modifications to better adapt the title to mobile platforms. The game was created and released by the creators of the first game - Grinding Gear Games.

Plot

The player takes on the role of a hero who was banished from his home (Oriath) to the dangerous continent of Wraeclast, where criminals are sent. Hero decides to take revenge on the person who banished him - High Templar Dominus - so he sets off on a journey to find a way out of the prison.

Mechanics

In Path of Exile: Mobile the action is observed from above, from isometric perspective. The game is a classic representative of the hack'n'slash genre - it means that the fun boils down to exploring new locations and killing monsters. As the game progresses, we progress our character and acquire new equipment. There are different categories of equipment rarity - from ordinary white items, through rare green and blue, to powerful yellow and unique orange.

A unique system of progression has been implemented in the game - new skills are acquired by inserting special gemstones in the slots available on weapons and other equipment of our hero. These abilities can be further modified (mainly by inserting two stones into the combined slots, so that one of them modifies the properties of the other) and strengthened gradually as we use them. In Path of Exile: Mobile we can use up to eight skills at the same time.

Additionally, by playing we gain points, which we can invest on a huge development tree (has more than 1350 items). There are various types of buffs, some of which are quite simple - e.g. increasing the number of damage dealt by increasing the related statistics (each character is described by three attributes: intelligence, dexterity and strength), while others fundamentally modify the way a character is played.

The game economy is also uniquely designed - there is no single currency here. Instead, a so-called system of spheres has been implemented, which we obtain by exchanging items or defeating enemies. We can get better spheres for rare items and the most powerful ones require equipment with specific attributes.

Path of Exile: Mobile has an interface adapted to mobile devices. The developers have also shortened the time needed to complete many challenges to make the game more suitable for the way the average user plays on their phone (on such platforms we generally prefer shorter sessions).

Game modes

Path of Exile: Mobile can be played both solo and with others, although the game always requires logging in to the server. Although nothing stands in the way of overcoming most of the challenges, the game also includes content prepared for a larger number of players, and even PvP clashes.

Technical aspects

Path of Exile: Mobile features nice three-dimensional visuals, especially for a title dedicated to phones and tablets. The graphics have been slightly simplified compared to PC and console versions, but the mobile release still looks solid. Particularly impressive are animations of attacks and spells used by our hero. The game is characterized by heavy, dark atmosphere and lot of violence and blood. We often also move in the twilight or even total darkness (illuminated by magic or torches), which helps to hide some of the graphic imperfections.

Additional information

Path of Exile: Mobile was released in free-to-play model. There is a microtransaction system, but it only covers cosmetic items. As in the case of the version dedicated to stationary platforms, maintaining the balance of the game and avoiding pay-to-win solutions was of key importance for the creators.
