Overthrown Description
Overthrown is a production on the border between action games and city builders. It was developed by the independent studio Brimstone, and its release was handled by Maximum Entertainment company.
Story
The action of Overthrown takes place in a fantasy land. During the game we take on the role of a ruler whose task is to create a prosperous kingdom from scratch and defend it against mutants and bandits. We are not doomed to a solitary ordeal. We have an ancient crown that steals souls and provides supernatural abilities. Thanks to it we can count on the help of allies and subjects.
Gameplay
Exploration, construction and management of the kingdom
In Overthrown we view events from a third person perspective (TPP). Our main activity in the game is managing and developing the kingdom. While exploring the area, we gather resources, which are primarily used for constructing buildings. Forming production chains plays an important role here. For example, we need to process the acquired wood into planks in a sawmill to use it for construction. Cultivation of the land is also important and we must remember to place industrial facilities away from the fields.
Although initially we do all this ourselves, as we progress we are joined by subjects to whom we can entrust duties, gradually automating key processes. We must pay attention to the level of satisfaction of our people. If necessary, we have to fulfill their whims, because otherwise we risk that they will decide to join the bandits or even attempt a coup.
Throwing objects and fighting
Our character has superhuman strength and can use it to move buildings and other objects. Although there is nothing to stop us from transporting trees from the forest to the sawmill and throwing them into it whole, we can just as easily take the sawmill to the forest to start producing boards on site. Our ruler can also run on water or rise into the air.
We can use our great strength to deal with opponents - by moving the mutant's lair near the bandit's hideout, we will set enemies against each other. Fights regularly occur during the game. The skirmishes are dynamic, and during them we face waves of enemies, making use of melee weapons or throwing at them anything that comes to hand.
Co-op
Overthrown allows for solo play, but it shines in cooperative mode for up to 6 players.
