OVERKILL's The Walking Dead Description
OVERKILL's The Walking Dead is a FPS which is a result of cooperation between Overkill Software and Starbreeze Studios. The game was released by 505 Games.
Plot
OVERKILL's The Walking Dead takes us on a journey into the universe of The Walking Dead, created by Robert Kirkman in the famous comic series (which has also been adapted in a TV series). The world has fallen victim to an epidemic that transforms people into bloodthirsty zombies after their death. Those who survived have to fight every day for their lvies, facing both the aggressive undead and other survivors.
We find ourselves in a ruined Washington, playing as one of the four characters. Aidan is impulsive and easy to give in to emotions, and at the same time he is a hand-to-hand combat specialist. Looking for his family, Grant can handle firearms perfectly; he has spent the last years in the wilderness, hunting and writing guides. The third heroine is Maya, once a surgeon, whose skills are indispensable in the postapocalyptic reality. The last one on the list is Heather – a former kindergartenwoman who is still trying to find good in people (although it is better not to get on her nerve).
Mechanics
In OVERKILL's The Walking Dead we observe the action from the perspective of the first person (FPP). The production was created with a view to the cooperation mode designed for up to four players. In the course of the struggle we deal with the execution of mission goals, between which we get to the camp, which is our base; as we progress, we improve the headquarters, increasing its defensive capabilities, as well as taking care of the needs of its residents.
The overarching element of the game is the fight against the opponents; as mentioned earlier, not only zombies stand in our way, but also other people. Fortunately, the authors provide us with an extensive set of weapons and firearms. In addition, each weapon can be subject to various modifications; for example, the installation of a silencer allows you to make silent shots, while shortening the shotgun barrel increases damage. The game also features a crafting system, which allows you to create useful items based on the resources you can find.
In return for the various activities, we gain experience points, and after collecting the appropriate number, we advance to the next levels. Each of the heroes has an individual set of skills that allow him to adapt to the role he plays in the team (for example, Maya is great at treating wounded companions, while Grant is a great shooter holding enemies at a distance). It's worth noting that the difficulty level adjusts not only to the "level" of the character, but also to the size of our team.
Technical aspects
OVERKILL's The Walking Dead has 3D graphics of decent quality. Just like the original comic book and its serial adaptation, the game is characterized by high brutality.
