OverBlood 2 is the second installment of the series developed by Riverhillsoft. Unlike the original survival horror, the sequel is an adventure game with emphasis on exploring and solving puzzles.
Story
OverBlood 2 takes place in 2115, seventy years after the cataclysm known as the "Sudden Death of the Earth", in the result of which the humanity was forced to construct special devices that cool down the atmosphere - without them, the planet would not be fit for life anymore. We meet the main character of the game, Acarno Brani, during a flight to the East Edge City, where the protagonist intends to start the career of a racing driver in the Junk Blade championship. During the journey, our character meets Veltor Curtis, who is attacked shortly after landing; during the struggle, the new friend gives Acarno a mysterious capsule containing confidential information.
In this way, the story begins, the seubsequent threads of which are revealed both through conversations with NPCs and during cut-scenes. It is worth noting that apart from a few references, the developers did not decide to take up the topics initiated in the first installment of the series.
Mechanics
In OverBlood 2 we observe the action from third-person perspective. The main element of the game is exploration - in the course of the game, we visit various open-structure locations, where we move on foot; their traversing is diversified not only by climbing obstacles but also the ability to use gadgets like a rope with a hook, which gives us access to high places. In addition, it is important to solve puzzles based on the proper use of items found along the way, searching for keys and access cards or even finding information about the game world. However, the game does not lack battles with enemies (which we eliminate with the use of melee weapons or firearms), and even racing sequences.
Technical aspects
For the purpose of OverBlood 2, the devs decided to improve the controls - thus tackling one of the main accusations made by the players of their previous game. As before, the places we visit are fully three-dimensional.
