Outpath Description
Outpath is a sandbox game difficult to qualify as a specific genre. It combines simulation mechanics with crafting and RPG elements. It was created by an indie developer David Moralejo Sanchez, who was inspired by such games as Forager, Satisfactory and Minecraft.
Mechanics
Outpath is a first-person game set on freely traversible islands. The player must gather resources (ranging from wood to various minerals), use them to craft equipment (like pickaxes and bows), construct buildings and devices. The latter are extremely important, as they let us automate certain processes.
As we progress through the game, we develop our abilities and unlock access to new islands. In the moments of downtime we can indulge in exploration, secret hunting and fishing.
Technical aspects
Visually, Outpath was very clearly inspired by Minecraft. The world is made of cubic blocks and pixelated textures. The sound and tempo of the music change smoothly depending on our actions.
