Out there Somewhere is a crossover of platformer and puzzle games inspired by the Metroid and Portal series. The player takes on the role of an astronaut named Yuri, who crashed on an alien planet and tries to escape it. The title was created by the Miniboss studio and published by EQGames.

Story

The player takes on the role of a star fleet captain named Yuri, whose vehicle was damaged during a fight against an enemy. Forced to land on an alien planet, he starts searching for a rare resource known as Lightorb, which can help him repair the ship. The cruel ruler of the planet, Grigori, stands in his way.

Mechanics

Out there Somewhere is a two-dimensional platformer that skillfully combines arcade sequences and logical puzzles. The player progresses through the stages using a special teleport gun, which allows you to avoid clashes with enemies and to quickly move around the map. As the gameplay develops, the stages become more and more complex and beset with various obstacles that make teleportation difficult. The level layout is not linear and, just like in metroidvania games, the player is given the opportunity to return to previously visited locations in order to discover various secrets. At times the game changes its formula and allows the player to sit at the controls of a star fighter. During such sequences the game resembles a classic two-dimensional shoot'em up.

Technical issues

The game is characterized by a simple two-dimensional graphics design, reminiscent of the productions from the era of 8-bit consoles. The soundtrack of the title is also maintained in a similar style.
