Old School Rally Description
Old School Rally is an arcade rally game, the creation of which was initiated by a single developer from Greece, using the nickname Sakis 25 on social media, and publishing games on Steam under the banner of Frozen Lake Games. He had previously tried his hand at the car game genre, releasing Seaside Driving in 2022 - however, it was a much more modest project.
Gameplay
Old School Rally is inspired by rally games from the end of the 20th century, especially Colin McRae Rally 2.0 - a cult work of the Codemasters studio from 2000. This primarily concerns the driving model. The rally stages are usually wide, and cars are eager to take turns with long - but easy to control - slides (especially on loose surfaces).
There's a variety of iconic cars known from rally stages at our disposal. They are not licensed, but it's easy to recognize the classic models, like the Mini Cooper and Lancia Fulvia from the 60s, Peugeot 205 and Audi Quattro from the 80s, or Lancia Delta, Subaru Impreza and Peugeot 206 from the 90s. Diversity also applies to the available stages with varying surfaces (asphalt, gravel, snow, etc.). The locations are inspired by countries that have hosted the World Rally Championship in the past.
Game modes
Old School Rally is a single player game. The main feature of the game is the Rally mode, in which we gradually unlock subsequent cars. Other modes include a time trial.
Technology
The three-dimensional graphics of Old School Rally refer to the era of the first PlayStation console. We can see the inspiration from Colin McRae Rally 2.0 in aspects such as camera work and interface design.
