Colin McRae Rally 2.0 Description
A continuation of the warmly welcomed racing game from 1997, prepared by Codemasters, in which players can take part in the World Rally Championship. The second part offers new cars and tracks, and also allows direct competition on closed tracks with several opponents.
Mechanics
In Colin McRea Rally 2.0, the creators provide the players with a dozen or so machines that took part in rallies in the 2000 season or in the past. Available cars include ford focus wrc, subaru impreza wrc, mitsubishi lancer evolution VI, but also peugeot 205, lancia stratos, moris mini cooper and ford escort Mk1. Each of them can be tested on demanding special sections in different parts of the world - from desert Kenya, through muddy Great Britain, to winding and narrow asphalt stages in Italy or snow-covered sections in Finland.
The production again tries to present the rally rivalry in a realistic way. Players must be able to skillfully control the car on the route and take care of its preparation before the next stages. This involves the right choice of tyres, suspension and transmission settings, as well as the necessary repair of damaged parts during breaks. Malfunctions left unnoticed affect the performance of the car and can be crucial in the context of a battle for victory.
Game modes
In their continuation, the creators of Codemasters have made it possible not only to compete on time in the classic WRC season eliminations, but also to compete directly in the rallycross. In this module, six machines go to a closed circuit, where they are the first to fight wheel after wheel to reach the finish line. Players can face both artificial intelligence and live opponents on a split screen. Colin McRea Rally 2.0 also allows up to eight people to play local or online.
Technical aspects
Colin McRea Rally 2.0 is a three-dimensional racing game in which the authors took care of the proper rendering of the WRC climate. All vehicle models are carefully reproduced on the basis of their real equivalents. Colin McRea's team partner, Nicky Grist, played the role of the pilot again.
