Octodad Description
Octodad is an idea of a group of Chicago students (founders of Young Horses studio) realized within the framework of The DePaul Game Experience project. The title of the game refers to the nickname given by the American media to Nadyi Suleman, who after the birth of the octopuses was called "Octom".
Protagonist Octodad is a respected father who hides a dark secret from his loved ones. The head of the family is actually a camouflaged octopus. The player must help the hero in fulfilling his daily duties and keeping his true identity secret....
The game focuses on performing seemingly simple tasks. It is a shame that the cephalopod is rather difficult to move in the world of people, and even more so without arousing suspicion. If necessary, however, Octodad can take advantage of its natural predispositions such as great strength or the ability to squeeze through narrow cracks, although it must watch out for curious looks of family members and neighbors.
The key role in the game is a puppet character control system. The player controls each limb (or more precisely the tentacle) of the Octo-father separately, which, with a rather unpredictable rag-to-lower physical motor, makes the coordination of movements a considerable challenge.
