Norland Description
Norland is a strategy game with kingdom management simulator elements, in which we take control over a noble family of the medieval era. It was developed and published by an independent studio Long Jaunt. The developers were inspired by such games as RimWorld, Crusader Kings or Caesar.
Plot
Norland takes place in a medieval city, which is taken care of by a noble family. Norland does not have a predetermined storyline. It is rather a generator of extended stories, in which each interaction with unique characters has an impact on the further development of events.
Game mechanics
In this game we take control over a noble family, ruling over a city inhabited by representatives of different classes: peasants, soldiers, slaves, criminals. Each citizen has his own needs and types of behavior, depending both on social status and individual character traits. Similarly, members of a noble family begin to build complex relationships with each other (making friends, falling in love, supporting each other, but also backbiting, insulting, and in drastic cases even killing). Each person has unique personality traits, but also family traits that can be passed on to future generations. Each also differs in their background, belief system, level of sexual desire, etc.
The objective of the game is to develop the city and keep our citizens happy. We can achieve this by paying high salaries, punishing criminals, increasing the population, building and improving production buildings, controlling prices in the internal market, trading with visiting merchants and solving any crisis situations. It is also important to ensure the safety of both the noble family and the citizens in case of potential bloody riots or natural disasters.
There are many ways to maintain control over the city and increase your influence in the world. We can not only plan political intrigues with other rulers or religious leaders, but also use blackmail or order assassinations. We also have the ability to expand our army and create defenses, and it's up to us whether we use them in battle with other kingdoms or decide to take a more peaceful path. Our soldiers can use 7 types of weapons, 3 different types of armor, as well as apply unique combat skills in battle.
Technical aspects
This game features 2D graphics in a pleasant cartoon style.
