Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence - Ascension Description
Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence – Ascension is a turn-based strategy game released on PS4, PC and etc.. It is another installment in the series started in 1983. The game was developed by KOEI Tecmo, the team that was responsible for all previous installments of the series.
Plot
Following the tradition of the series, the game takes place during the Sengoku era, one of the more turbulent times in the history of Japan, that took place in years 1467-1573. The player can participate in the most important battles and events of those times – starting with the first splits between the local powers, through the creation of clans, to the break of the unavoidable conflict which led to the birth of the Shogunate.
The developers put especially much effort into creation of Yukimura Sanada’s campaign. He was considered one of the greatest warriors of Sengoku era and the campaign allows the player to follow almost his whole life – since his sixteenth birthday to his death during the siege of the castle in Osaka. A few other characters received special campaigns as well. Among them there is Ieyasu Tokugawa who in the end became a shogun, and Masamune Date, better known as the “One-Eyed Dragon”.
Mechanics
Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence – Ascension for PS4, PC and etc. was built on the same principles as the previous entries in the series. It is a turn-based strategy game in which the player develops his lands and focuses on economy and trading. They must conduct diplomatic actions, train the military and wage wars. The game doesn’t limit itself to recreating the solutions from the previous installments - it also offers many improvements and novelties. The game allows learning the historical times even better and take a closer look at army creation and stronghold building thanks to the option allowing to start the game as a common officer who must slowly climb up the command chain. This allows experiencing the game in a much smaller scale: at first the player receives a very small piece of land and he can lead only few squads to combat. Of course, it is also possible to start the game from a higher position. The developers created more than two thousand playable characters and each of them is based on a historical person that lived during those times.
During the game it is now possible to complete optional objectives. Naval battles and sieges were finally introduced as well.
