Nobody Saves the World is an action RPG full of crazy humour with roguelike elements. The game was developed by the DrinkBox Studios team, recognisable all over the world thanks to the Guacamelee series.
Plot
The main character of Nobody Saves the World is Nobody - a pale man with no skills. The protagonist started learning from a powerful magician, who disappeared without a trace on the very first day, leaving his student with a seemingly impossible task. Nobody has to clean the abyssal dungeons from the monsters that nested there and defeat the Calamity lurking there. The teacher has left his pupil a magic wand which allows him to change form and use various combat skills. Armed with this wand, there's nothing left for Nobody to do but embark on a dangerous journey through the underworld.
Mechanics
In Nobody Saves the World the action is shown from a top-down view. During the game we explore a procedurally generated maze, fight dynamic battles with hordes of enemies, solve environmental puzzles and complete numerous tasks. The last ones allow us not only to move the plot forward, but also to gain new forms (there are eighteen in total), which our hero can take, as well as to unlock skills characteristic for each of them.
Each of the characters that Nobody turns into has strengths and weaknesses. The nimble rat, for example, can make quick attacks, the donkey can punch enemies, the turtle can fight at a distance, while the egg is very weak in its basic form, but can regenerate lost health. Although we have to spend some time in a particular form to unlock a certain skill, there's nothing to stop us assigning it to another character later on. As the many abilities of different forms mesh perfectly together, over time we can make Nobody a true monster-killing machine.
Be careful though, as the stronger Nobody becomes, the more difficult enemies he will encounter on his way. This is especially true when it comes to powerful bosses; eliminating each of them requires you to learn the pattern of attacks and detect weaknesses, as well as showing dexterity and reflexes.
