Nimbatus: The Space Drone Constructor is a 2D dexterity simulator, in which we build more and more perfect drones from available parts. The player has to adapt the machine parameters to a specific mission using a special editor or take into account the annihilation of the drona by enemy robots. A bit of engineering inventiveness is also useful - in some tasks manoeuvrable scouts will perform better, while others require large combat platforms.

Nimbatus - The Space Drone Constructor is a 2D arcade game with simulation elements, in which we build our own space drones. This is the second project of Stray Fawn Studio, a small Swiss developer. The titular Nimbatus is a technologically advanced mother ship, designed for remote execution of dangerous missions on planets.

Mechanics

After starting the game, we find ourselves in a procedurally generated galaxy. As commander of Nimbatus, we visit other planets and design technologically advanced drones to complete various missions: from extracting resources, through eliminating enemy robots' nests, to destroying signal transmitters. We don't have to worry too much about the terrain, because the machine can freely create paths and go through the environment like a hot knife through butter.

We start the game by constructing our reconnaissance machine. Nimbatus - The Space Drone Constructor offers a huge number of parts that can be attached to the central core without any restrictions. We can choose from numerous engines, weapons, mining lasers, shields, batteries and fuel tanks powering all the equipment. What is more, a series of sensors and processors can help us pilot the drone or even make it autonomous.

Game modes

In addition to missions on the planetary surfaces, players can also use a few additional modes, focused on fighting drones. For example, you can take part in a sumo match where the goal is to push the enemy vehicle out of the circle. In the arena, we have to face waves of tenacious opponents, trying to survive as long as possible.

Technical aspects

Nimbatus - The Space Drone Constructor offers functional and detailed 2D graphics, whose main advantages are excellent looking particle effects, laser lights, explosions and other dynamic elements of the game. The physics engine also deserves attention - it allows for realistic movements of individual elements of the ship and precise simulations of the behavior of drones equipped with maneuvering engines.
