NHL 2K, released on AND and iOS, is the next installment of the popular sports series dedicated to ice hockey. The game can be treated as a restart of the series - the previous annual edition was released on the Wii console and mobile devices in 2010. Unlike its predecessors, NHL 2K is designed for mobile devices.
Mechanics
In terms of mechanics, the title is based on similar solutions to NBA 2K15 released almost simultaneously on mobiles, focusing in particular on the slightly "role-playing" My Career mode. We create our own player from scratch and lead him through the successive levels of his hockey career. During the game, we have to take care of the contracts of our players, their training and the increase of individual attributes, obtained through participation in subsequent matches. The game can last several seasons, during which our player can change from a novice junior to a real hockey star.
Game modes
Apart from the career mode, the creators from 2K Games have also prepared other game variants. We can compete in a single match played in teams of 3 players (called Mini Rink Mode). There is also a penalty shootout tournament, which we also play with another live opponent via the Internet.
Technical aspects
The graphics in NHL 2K obviously differ from the last entry of the series available on stationary consoles. Nevertheless, the game's graphics are at a very high level, and the 3D engine used for the matches depicts them in a very realistic way. In addition, the developers of the game took care to continuously update the line-ups based on real data and have provided support for controllers dedicated to mobile devices.
