News Tower is a strategy game in which we manage a newspaper, deciding what to publish, employing the staff and expanding our HQ. It features humorous, comic book-like visuals and was developed by the Rotterdam-based studio Sparrow Night.

Plot

The player leads a small newspaper in the 1930s, tasked with expanding it into a media mainstay. We start off modestly, writing about minor matters local to Brooklyn.

Over time we expand to other districts of New York, writing about sensational topics such as Prohibition, the Great Depression and an impending war.

If News Tower is anything to go by, Citizen Kane was right; it is fun to run a newspaper.

News Tower isn’t a game that could be called a successor to Game Dev Tycoon. It’s a much more complex blend of strategy and builder mechanics that can keep you hooked for a long time. Maybe not necessarily in a single session, but definitely through many shorter ones. If you love jazz, upgrades, and seeing tangible progress, this game is for you.
