Developed by Bytro Labs, New World Empires in an browser MMO game featuring a free-to-play model. In the game the players have to build their own Empires from the scratch, starting with a small country under their rule and a certain amount of money to spend in order to develop their realms. The gameplay builds on four main aspects – economy, exploration, research, and military.
An MMO strategy game developed by Bytro Labs, the game shares certain similarities with Supremacy 1914. New World Empires is a browser free-to-play production with a built-in microtransaction system, which allows players to speed up particular activities.
Mechanics
In New World Empires, the player’s task is to build a powerful Empire from scratch. One begins their adventure with a small country divided into provinces under their rule, and a considerable amount of money to invest in the expansion of the empire. In each province, one can erect new structures, such as the market square – which increases tax income – military barracks, etc. During the game, players have to consider many things, as the gameplay revolves around four main aspects: economy, exploration, research, and military. The first of these requires the players to cater to their citizens’ needs, increase the empire’s income, etc. The second aspect deals with discovering and colonization of new territories. The third one allows players to invent new military, naval and architectural technologies. The last aspect is necessary in order to ensure peace and security over the empire.
Every unit, no matter if it is a structure or a soldier, requires a certain amount of raw materials in order to be constructed, built or recruited. Players obtain these during the game, however bad raw material management serious deficits resulting in the deterioration of the empire’s condition. If necessary, one can purchase raw materials he lacks (or sell them in times of surplus) on the market, provided he has a sufficient amount of ducats.
New World Empires is a strategy game in the true sense of the word. Apart from the aforementioned activities, players have to take care of other things, such as alliances with other countries – very useful especially during the initial stages of the game, when one’s country is small and weak. Moreover, the game features a well-developed espionage mechanics, which allow players to investigate the enemies’ military strength, their economic condition, and even find out whether they are being spied themselves.
Technical aspects
The visuals in New World Empires are based on simplicity. The gameplay mechanics revolve mainly around studying new statistics and tend to the map – all this results in mediocre graphics but is compensated by a very functional and transparent interface.
