Supremacy 1914 is a free-to-play real-time strategy designed to be played via a web browser. The player becomes a leader of one of European countries and has to fight for control over the world engulfed in the horrors of war. The game has been created by an independent studio called Bytro Labs and stands out in terms of its careful execution and attention to historical detail.

The MMO games published by Bigpoint (e.g. Dark Orbit, Deepolis) have many fans around the world. This is also the case with Supremacy 1914, which has been in development for 3 years. The creators managed to deliver an interesting and good-looking real-time strategy, which is underpinned with historical facts.

The action of Supremacy 1914 is set in Europe, right after the oubreak of World War I. The player takes command over one of the European countries in the fight for domination over the Old Continent. The responsibilities of a leader include careful resource management, monitoring the economic growth, taking care of morale across the sovereign provinces, developing military potential, and finally, expanding the territory.

Mechanics

Unlike many MMO strategy games, Supremacy 1914 allows up to 31 players to play on a single map (whenever there are too few players, the remaining factions are controlled by the AI). Maps, however, are all the same, with 18 countries and 163 provinces. Even with this relatively small scale, the key to victory is maintaining good diplomatic relations with other countries, by establishing alliances and working for the common good.

The gameplay mechanics feature high complexity while maintaining intuitive and simple controls. Most undertakings require tactical preparations. After starting an action, such as drafting units or erecting a structure, players have to wait even several days until they are completed. Because of that, the game does not take much of our time and does not obligate players to log in on regular basis.

Technical aspects

In terms of visuals, Supremacy 1914 is a positive surprise in comparison to similar titles. Even though the game strongly emphasizes textual content (statistics, communication, etc.), it features climatic illustrations and authentic photographs from the period of World War I.

The game is based on a free-to-play business model, however, there are certain options and facilitations that are available to purchase with a special currency (Goldmark) obtained for real money.
