An arcade racing game with a retro low poly style. New Star GP is a simplified version of the Formula 1 championships from a total of five decades, starting in the 1980s. The game doesn't have an F1 license, but it offers tracks and cars similar to the real ones.
New Star GP is an unlicensed Formula 1-themed racing game, which refers to the old days - in terms of visuals, gameplay, and the motorsport discipline itself. It was created by the New Star Games studio, which was established in 2003 and specialized in accessible sports titles, and achieved its greatest success with the New Star Soccer series.
Gameplay
New Star GP takes a simplified look at five decades of F1 history, starting in the 1980s. This primarily concerns cars, which were gradually becoming more technologically advanced. The driving model is arcade and relatively easy to learn, and the competitions take place on fictional tracks in various corners of the world, to a greater or lesser extent inspired by famous real facilities that host Formula 1 events.
We start the career mode from the oldest times and from season to season we "advance" to subsequent eras. In addition to racing, we take on some of the team leader's responsibilities - we unlock vehicle upgrades and select team members who provide us with various "perks". The drivers we compete with have an individual driving style and personality.
Although races are usually not long, during them we have to pay attention to factors such as tire and fuel wear, damage or weather changes. This forces us to make pit stops, during which we can demonstrate our strategic sense, choosing a tire compound appropriate to the conditions and deciding on the fuel load in the tank. We also have to be ready for technical failures of racing cars and crashes.
In addition to traditional races, New Star GP features various forms of challenges, such as time trials, old-school checkpoint competitions, one-on-one duels and elimination races.
Game modes
In addition to single-player gameplay, New Star GP includes a split-screen multiplayer mode for up to four people. We can compete not only in individual races, but also in entire championships, which can be freely configured.
Technology
The audio and the visuals refer to racing games from the 1990s, using a "low poly" graphics style characterized by simplified three-dimensional objects.

New Star GP is the sort of racing game that comes every now and then that truly gets a hold of me and is unwilling to let go until it has its way with me. Last time I felt this strongly about the genre was with the very first Gran Turismo on the PlayStation, and prior to that, the arcade version of Daytona USA. If you have any interest in arcade gaming and are willing to invest some time into surprisingly meatier career mode, New Star GP will have you covered for a while.
Completexbox: 80 / 100 by Dan Boise
New Star GP is a surprisingly deep, incredibly addictive racing game that offers a reasonable mix between arcade and simulation style. Upgrading your ride and maintaining your relationship with your crew offers some interesting gameplay mechanic. However, as with a lot of racing games, it does require a bit of practice given that A.I. racers are out for blood. New Star GP is a must play for all racing fans; new or old.
TheSixthAxis: 8 / 10 by Dominic Leighton
New Star GP captures the intense racing action of an F1 season, from on track action and pit strategy to building your team, but does so without losing any of the fun of an arcade racer.
