Absolute Drift: Zen Edition Description
Absolute Drift: Zen Edition is a racing game dedicated to the title racing of cornering in controlled slides. The title, developed by the independent team at Funselektor Labs, launched in 2014 as a PC prototype. After a year it got a free upgrade to the Zen Edition (developed in collaboration with FlippFly).
Mechanics
The rules of Absolute Drift: Zen Edition are not particularly complicated. During the game, we sit behind the wheel of one of the few (customizable) cars, which we observe from a top-down perspective, like in the iconic Micro Machines. The races have been divided into several variants - apart from Driftkhan, where we compelete a particular obstacle course inspired by routes created for famous Ken Block, we take part in classic competitions and Mountain Drifting.
The pillar of the game is to perform subsequent slides and combine them into spectacular chains - by smoothly passing from one slide to another and driving the car through the dots placed on selected corners, we guarantee ourselves a higher number of points. The culmination of our efforts is the opportunity to take part in competitions taking place after dark, which are characterized by a much higher level of difficulty.
The competition takes place on dozens of varied routes - from mountain tracks, through airports and ports, to a picturesque city levitating in the air. We can improve our skills by driving with the ghosts of other drivers or watching repetitions of their races, while newcomers can use the built-in tutorial to get familiar with the meanders of the game.
Technical aspects
Absolute Drift: Zen Edition is characterized by minimalist, yet neat and eye-catching visuals - its individual elements are modest not only in details but also in colors (white and red dominate). Separate mention should be made of the soundtrack from between drum & bass and trance, composed by Nyte and C41.
