NBA Playgrounds 2 is a sequel to the 2017 game NBA Playgrounds by Saber Interactive. The game features many improvements, new modes and players.

Mechanics

The gameplay in NBA Playgrounds 2 is arcade-like, but still based on the street basketball rules. The matches feature two teams of two players each, who try to score more points than the opponents. The players can not only throw the ball and perform dunk shots, but also do spectacular acrobatics. The mechanics doesn't differ from those of the first game, although there are new moves for the players and new courts, and the AI has been improved. There are over 200 licensed playable characters, some of them available from the start, including Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Shaquille O'Neal, Magic Johnson, Allen Iverson, and Larry Bird.

Game mode

NBA Playgrounds 2 features new modes. The biggest novelty is Season, the solo career mode, in which you lead your team through the whole season, take part in play-offs, and strive to win the NBA Finals. Another mode, Playgrounds Championship, is the world league, with rankings regarding solo and co-op modes. There is also an online multiplayer mode with dedicated servers, 4-on-4 matches, and a mode which allows you to set your own rules.

Technical aspects

The game features improved visuals in regards to its predecessor. There production's well-known cartoonish style remained unchanged, but there are e.g. new character models and animations.
