The duo Midway Games and Acclaim Entertainment, known primarily for their cult fight Mortal Kombat, are responsible for the creation of the game. The title appeared on PCs and fifth generation consoles such as Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn.

NBA Jam approaches the NBA basketball league games with a big wink, focusing primarily on spectacular and dynamic fun. It consists in a crazy rivalry of two-person teams, during which the basic rules of basketball go into the field of play. So we won't notice the fouls, and our players are able to carry out spectacular batches from almost every place on the pitch.

NBA Jam Tournament Edition offers licensed teams known from the NBA league with their main stars (two main players and one reserve player). Basketball players are described by several basic parameters, such as takeovers, blocks, slam-doubles or throws for 3 points. Despite the lack of fouls, players may suffer injuries that affect their performance during the match.

The main mode of the game is the so-called Tournament Mode, where we compete successively with all league teams, unlocking hidden players and higher difficulty levels. In addition to the tournament mode, we can vary the fun, including a variety of special options, such as the above scoring Hot-Spot zones (which can give us up to 9 points), Juice Mode (where time speeds up to 4 times) and powerups (which appear randomly on the pitch, allowing you to perform spectacular tricks and even blow up your opponent's players).

NBA Jam Tournament Edition is characterized by a colorful graphic design, with characteristic large basketball players' heads. The title provides for the possibility of simultaneous play of up to 4 players, each of whom plays one of the players present on the pitch. In case of lack of volunteers, the remaining competitors are controlled by computer AI.
