It's also a combination of five episodes released under the same title for mobile platforms and the first production by this developer to be released for PC Windows and an eight generation console.
You play as a wizard named Monty, who's tasked with protecting five Mystery Castles from the forces of evil. Using the elements of the environment and your own wit, you have to outsmart your enemies and clear the castles.
Mystery Castle for PC and XONE is an oldschool logic puzzle game. It consists of 180 levels taking place in five castles, which you can complete in any order. The locations are two-dimensional and seen from an isometric point of view. Throughout the game, you solve puzzles, which usually require you to move around various objects, such as chests. Apart form that, Monty uses some elements of the environment to find hidden passages or create new ones.
Every interaction with an object needs to be well-thought, as moving them around in an incorrect order may render it impossible to beat a level, thus forcing you to start it over. Moving on to the next stage is only possible after gathering several crystals, scattered around the location. The final hall of each castle houses a boss, the fight with which is quite challenging.
Mystery Castle for PC and XONE features cartoonish visuals. Its original version was created for mobile devices, which is obvious during the game, as it doesn't require even half of the capabilities of a console or a PC to work properly.
