Monster Bass is an unusual game about fishing, in which the devs decided to give up the realism and task the players with catching underwater monsters.
Mechanics
The angler controlled by the players is to catch a certain number of genetically modified fish on subsequent maps, using the lures available at hand. These are kept in a specific style of play - the virtual hunter has live spiders, praying mantises, small fish, frogs or mice at his disposal, which he uses to try to attract sea predators. The game mechanics do not try to simulate fishing in real life. The player must throw the lure properly, then control it in the water, and after catching the specimen, we can pull it onto our boat, observing the tension of the line and the behavior of the animal trying to escape. On each map, there is a specific time limit within which the task has to be performed. Missions are additionally hindered by the limited number of lures and, with each level, by the increasingly complex terrain of the fisheries.
Technical aspects
Monster Bass is a three-dimensional game about fishing, in which models of characters and animals were made in 3D. The title is kept in a dark, horror-like style. A specific atmosphere is also created by music straight from horror films.
