Mighty Gunvolt Burst is a sequel to the 2014 arcade game Mighty Gunvolt that was released on Nintendo 3DS. Both games were developed by Inti Creates, 2D action games specialists. We play as the titular Gunvolt, a hero who can control lightning and uses that ability in his fight against evil. He is aided by the ghost of a girl name Joule who lives inside our protagonist, providing him protection in critical situations.

Mighty Gunvolt Burst Description
Mighty Gunvolt Burst is a continuation of the 2014 Mighty Gunvolt (released on PlayStation as Gal Gunvolt) from Japanese studio Inti Creates. The company specializes in two-dimensional action games and has in its portfolio such games as Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and Blaster Master Zero.
Story
In Mighty Gunvolt Burst we play the role of an Adept, a person with superpowers. The title Gunvolt is the hero capable of controlling lightning, which he uses to fight evil. He is assisted by the soul of a girl named Joule who lives inside of him, providing protection in crisis situations.
Mechanics
The title was built on the foundations of the previous installment, but developers introduced a lot of changes in the already known gameplay system. The title is a two-dimensional side-scroller action game with elements of a platforme game, which is easiest to compare to the iconic Mega Man. The game is about completing subsequent levels, where we engage in a lot of jumping on platforms and, above all, fighting against numerous enemies.
One of the novelties introduced by Inti Creates is Burst, a special finishing move, providing us with extra points, which is useful when fighting for the best results. Additionally, we can make a Burst Combo, i.e. combinations of attacks consisting of single Bursts.
Developers have also provided a character customization system. During the game, we collect special modules. Thanks to them we can unlock new items used to modify the appearance of the hero. In addition, with Cost Points (CP) we can improve our abilities, e.g. change shooting mode. In addition, new equipment and skills can be tested before a purchase is approved.
Mighty Gunvolt Burst contains numerous collectibles. In this case these are stickers with 8-bit heroes. Interestingly, sometimes they drop from defeated enemies.
Technical aspects
Developers of Mighty Gunvolt Burst tried to combine 8-bit and 16-bit visuals. The final effect should be appreciated by every fan of bygone times.
