An adventure game with horror and stealth elements. In The Midnight Walk we explore a spooky fantasy land filled with fire-breathing monsters. We must rely on stealth and distraction to survive. Objects from the game were made from clay and the game offers optional VR support.
The Midnight Walk is an adventure game with horror and stealth elements. The project stands out due to its graphic design, which was created using an unusual technique. The independent studio MoonHood is responsible for developing this title - they are a team founded by people whose portfolio includes the warmly received Lost in Random, Fe and Ghost Giant.
In The Midnight Walk we find ourselves in a gloomy, fantasy land, or more precisely – on the titular winding route. During the game we take on the role of The Burnt One and in the company of the lamp creature known as Potboy we travel the road, learning five tales of fire and darkness . On the way, we must be aware of the dangers posed by the lurking Darkness.
In The Midnight Walk we view the action from the first (FPP) and third (TPP) person perspective. While exploring spooky locations, we must be on guard, as they are teeming with fire-breathing monsters that pose a deadly danger to both us and our companion. To survive, we must be cunning, including distracting enemies with Potboy's flame and sneaking behind their backs.
Clay was used to create the graphic design of The Midnight Walk. All its elements were made from it - from enemies to all sorts of objects. Then they were scanned in three dimensions and set in motion using stop-motion animation.
Additionally, The Midnight Walk offers support for virtual reality sets, but does not require them to operate.

Game Ratings for The Midnight Walk Video Game.
TheGamer: 4 / 5 by Jack Coleman
Founding members of Moonhood once told me they thought about quitting game development altogether, before eventually founding the studio and finding a reason to keep going with this project. I can't help but feel The Midnight Walk is an allegory for that rekindled passion; sometimes a great game only needs a spark.
GameSpew: 8 / 10 by Richard Seagrave
An adventure game with puzzle, stealth and horror elements, The Midnight Walk isn't all that complex mechanically. Its dark, intriguing world will grab your attention, though, and you'll soon come to love your companion, Potboy, making you want to see your journey through to its end. If you have the required hardware, you can play in VR, too, which is a nice touch.
WayTooManyGames: 7.5 / 10 by Leonardo Faria
I kept playing The Midnight Walk, and enjoying my time with it, because it was just a blessing for my eyes (and occasionally for my ears). By featuring the bare minimum of gameplay to make it stand out from other walking simulators, it’s vastly more enjoyable than most of its peers. That being said, it’s a one-and-done experience at best.
