The first expansion to the famed flight simulator from Microsoft. Aside from other, more cosmetic additions, Acceleration adds Windows Vista support, introducing some of its features such as Game Explorer or Parental Control. The add-on introduces new missions, multiplayer racing mode, and 3 extra aircraft: F/A-18 Hornet, P-51 Mustang, and AgustaWestland 101, a utility helicopter.

Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Acceleration is the first expansion to a popular flight simulator developed by Aces Studio, one of the studios affiliated with Microsoft.

Acceleration was primarily a technical upgrade that introduced Windows Vista support. The game was able to support some of Vista’s features, including Game Explorer or Parental Controls. The first feature offered regular updates of the game’s data, while Parental Controls introduced a parental check for the players that do not meet the age requirement.

We were also given the support for DirectX 10 libraries and new graphical options that improve upon the visuals seen in the basic edition. Nevertheless, the add-on contained a number of other features that can be experienced by Windows XP users.
