Metal Gear Solid: The Legacy Collection is a set that includes all major releases of the series from 1987-2012. The collection of eight games by the Hideo Kojima development team was released exclusively on PlayStation 3 to mark the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear series. The series representing the genre of action and sneaking games has been very popular among players for many years, which is confirmed by the total number of copies sold all over the world, reaching several dozen million.

In this rich edition you will find the following versions: Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid: Special Missions (set of training missions for the first part of the cycle), Metal Gear Solid 2: HD Edition, Metal Gear Solid 3: HD Edition (with additional content in the form of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 released originally on MSX 2), Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD Edition and Metal Gear Solid 4: Trophy Edition (version of the game updated with trophies to unlock during gameplay).

The first part of Metal Gear Solid and the mission kit are available as a code to download content from the PlayStation Network digital distribution store. In addition to the set of titles, there is an over 100-page album with concept graphics (from all scenes of the cycle) by Yoji Shinkawa and two digital books with illustrations prepared by Ashley Wood, an Australian artist cooperating with such publishers as Marvel, Image or DC Comics. Wood has previously worked not only on Metal Gear games, but also created comic strips with popular characters such as Weld, Judge Dredd and Shadowman.

The titles that added HD to the name have been adapted to PlayStation 3 standards. This involves not only adding trophies, but above all refreshing the visuals. The second and third installments, along with Peace Walker, a game originally released on PlayStation Portable, were graphically improved as part of the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, which was released in 2011.
