Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty for PS2 is a sequel to a very well-received PS2 game developed by Konami. The game is nearly perfect in terms of technicalities, because its main designer Hideo Kojima took advantage of the PlayStation 2's capabilities. The graphics, sound effects and music - all contribute to this masterpiece.

In Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty for PS2, the story begins when Solid Snake - a special agent and the protagonist of all the previous installments, reaches the ship which is allegedly transporting a new combat mech capable of carrying nuclear missiles. Snake's mission is to infiltrate the ship. Later on, the story takes the player to an oil rig where the second part of the game takes place. Interestingly, the player assumes the role of Raiden here - a young adept. Nonetheless, Snake is by the player's side as a NPC. In using such a storytelling device, Hideo Kojima wanted to present one of the most popular characters in the history of video games from a different angle. Thus Solid Snake remains the main protagonist of the game. The narrative is multi-threaded and full of amazing twists.

The game has magnificent visuals and soundtrack. The latter was composed by Harry Gregson-Williams, known for creating the soundtracks for films such as Enemy of the State or The Rock. When it comes to the graphics, the textures are well-made, environments are very detailed and character animations look impressive. The in-game cutscenes are rendered in real time - the devs deserve a round of applause, because these look as good as pre-rendered cutscenes in other games.
