Medieval: Total War - Viking Invasion

Viking Invasion for PC is the first official expansion to one of the recent most favorably reviewed strategy games, Medieval: Total War.

Mechanics

The game takes place over 1200 years ago, in 793, when the invincible Scandinavian warriors terrorize the whole Europe. The expansion features a new campaign, in which your main objective is conquering the British Isles (including new maps of the Isles and Scandinavia). The campaign introduces eight new factions from the Viking era, including the Vikings themselves, as well as e.g. Saxons, Scots, Irishmen and Welshmen. Apart from that, the expansion also introduces three new playable factions to the core game campaign: Sicilians, Hungarians and the Aragonese. In the Viking Campaign you can recruit new units for the eight new factions, including the Viking Berserker, the Saxon Fyrdmen, and the Huscarl, while the other campaigns of the core game now feature such units as elite Arabic Farid cavalrymen, Russian Druhzina Cavalry, Hungary Jobbagy Infantry and Organ Gun. There are also new siege weapons available, e.g. fiery arrows and boiling oil. Another novelty is the reconnaissance option, which allows you to spot the enemy units in pre-battle screen or when planning to bring your reserves onto the battlefield.
