Based on the license of the popular series Nickelodeon station collection of mini-games, in which the title sisters are trying to complete a series of missions. The aim is to remove the curse from the shopping gallery where they were imprisoned.
Developed by n-Space, creators of such games as Duke Nukem: Time to Kill and Die Hard Trilogy 2, the game was inspired by a youth TV series about the adventures of the Olsen twins. The title is a collection of five different mini-games.
Story
Twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen go shopping. They buy two bracelets, which, when combined, release a dark power, which affects the entire shopping mall, and access to all shops is blocked. Sisters need to conquer five magical games to restore order and save themselves and the random customers of the gallery.
Mechanics
Mary-Kate and Ashley: The Magical Mystery Mall offers five maps, to be visited in any order from the main hall of the centre. On each map there are different challenges, which have to be completed by the title heroines. The task of the players is to serve impatient customers in the restaurant, prepare a spectacular fashion show or win a snowboard race. Individual mini-games are based on different gameplay formula and have their own controls, which the player has to master if they want to succeed.
The game enables us to repeat subsequent maps to get additional tokens, which can then be exchanged for various bonuses. The devs prepared additional backgrounds of the arenas, costumes for the Olsen sisters or animations for them during the dance performances.
Technical aspects
Mary-Kate and Ashley: Magical Mystery Mall is a simple three-dimensional game - all items, arenas and characters, including the well-recreated models of the main characters, were made in 3D. The game enables us to continue playing after the credit roll, enabling us to discover all the secrets.
