Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter is another, after X-Men vs. Street Fighter, fighting game in Capcom's portfolio, being a crossover of the Street Fighter series and the universe created by Marvel comics. The title launched on arcade machines in 1997, and after less than two years it came to PS1.
Mechanics
The pillar of Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter are dels in two-dimensional arenas, featuring characters from both aformentioned worlds. Before the start of the battle we choose two players - unlike the version for arcade machines, on Sony's console, we cannot switch between them during the duel; the second warrior only acts as an assistant, entering the battlefield in order to launch a special attack.
The combat system is based on an extensive system of combos, the skillful use of which is often the key to victory. The devs provided us with a wide range of characters, including The Hulk, Wolverine, and Spider-Man from the Marvel universe and Akuma, Chun-Li, Dan, and Ryu from Street Fighter.
Game modes
Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter can be played solo or with a second player, thanks to the presence of competitive multiplayer mode. Arcade, Training, Hero Battle and Cross Over variants have been prepared for solo players, while the Versus mode enables us to compete against a living opponent. All of this is complemented by a special gallery, where we will find concept arts and bonus materials, which will be unlocked in the course of the game.
Technical aspects
Two-dimensional visuals of Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter stood the test of time well - not least thanks to the use of cel-shading.
