Mario Golf: Super Rush is the first installment of the golf sub-cycle of the popular Super Mario series released for the Nintendo Switch console. Since 1999, the brand has been developed by Camelot Software Planning studio and this is the sixth game to feature the Mario Golf logo.
Mechanics
As in previous installments, in Mario Golf: Super Rush we take part in golf competitions as one of the many characters from Nintendo games. Here we find not only Mario and his brother Luigi, but also Bowser, Princesses Peach and Daisy, Wario and many other well-known characters. Alternatively, you can create or import Mii, your own avatar.
According to the golf rules, the aim of the game is to hit the ball in such a way that it reaches the hole marked with a flag in as few strokes as possible. There are many different types of clubs to choose from and factors such as terrain, wind direction and strength have to be taken into account. From time to time we find helpful items or we can perform a special hit that will make the game easier or harder for our rivals. Mario Golf: Super Rush also includes many helpful features like two maps (including a minimap), terrain scanning, predicted ball trajectory etc.
Game modes
In Mario Golf Super Rush, the story-driven campaign with RPG elements returns, where we take on more challenges given to us by the residents of the Mushroom Kingdom. Along with the progress in the game, we also develop the attributes of the hero: stamina, impact strength, control, movement speed and the ability to spin the ball. .
In addition, there are all the standard single and multiplayer modes (live or AI-controlled), such as tournaments and challenges. There's also new Speed Golf, in which three players move simultaneously in real time and try to reach the end of a given golf course as quickly as possible
Technical aspects
While the graphics style of Mario Golf: Super Rush doesn't stray far from the tradition of 3D installments of the Super Mario series, the capabilities of the new Nintendo console resulted in higher quality. Furthermore, the Camelot studio took inspiration from Mario Tennis Aces, so most of the characters received special golf outfits instead of their standard skins as in previous 3D games in the sub-cycle.
