Main Assembly Description
Main Assembly enables the players to take on the role of a drone that can design and build various types of robots. We also have the opportunity to test our creations and have fun with other people. The title was developed and released by the independent Swedish studio Bad Yolk Games, founded by former employees of Machine Games (the company responsible for the modern installments of the Wolfenstein series). This is the developer's debut project.
Mechanics
The gameplay in Main Assembly is divided into two stages. In the first one, we create various types of robots, using a rich set of ready-made, modular parts. We also have the possibility to adjust the appearance of our creations - e.g. change the color of individual elements or use special cosmetic items, which we acquire as we progress in the game.
The second part of the game consists of testing the created machines. We program their sensors and behavioral elements, or define the interface and take control of the robot ourselves. An advanced physics engine plays a huge role here - our works can be damaged by collisions with objects. It is worth noting, however, that we have the option of restarting a given sequence and we can reproduce our machine as many times as we wish.
Game modes
Main Assembly can be played both solo and with others. The game offers a sandbox single player mode and an online mode that enables us to create and test our creations together with our friends.
Technical aspects
Main Assembly features very attractive three-dimensional visuals, which are powered by Unreal Engine 4. Both the environment models and the robots created by players are characterized by high level of detail. The realistic lighting system also looks great.
