An independent adventure game created by Polish journalist Marcin M. Dres. We play the role of a man experiencing strange hallucinations in which the paintings of Rene Magritte, a well-known painter, overlap with reality. What's more, the characters from surrealistic works speak and ask for help, which translates into sightseeing in Wroclaw and solving riddles.
Magritte is an adventure game, which is Marcin M. Drews' thesis (journalist and co-creator of the Mystery of the Statue). The whole project was realized with the use of free tools called Adventure Maker.
In the game, we play the role of a gentleman who experiences incredible hallucinations - whether under the influence of alcohol or mysterious events, the paintings of Rene Magritte, a famous painter, overlap with reality. What's more, the characters from surrealistic works speak and ask him for help in an incomprehensible case. This is how the journey around Wroclaw and other locations begins.
Magritte is characterized by a surreal atmosphere, which accompanies players from the beginning to the end of the adventure (lasting several dozen minutes). The gameplay in the game is about talking, combining facts and searching through locations in order to find clues that can push the story forward.
In Magritte you can see locations inspired by such images as the Son of Man, Black Magic, Lovers, the Empire of Light or Prohibited Reproduction. Lukasz Brzostek and the bands Agressiva 69 and TRH lent the music to the game.
