Continuation of a great action game telling the story of a conflict taking place on an ice-covered planet. Again, we have to face an alien race of Akrid, using, among other things, mechs.

Technical aspects

Lost Planet 2, released on PC, PS3 and XBOX 360, is a continuation of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, created by Capcom created in 2008. Shortly after the release of the original game, Capcom decided to release Lost Planet: Colonies which developed the ideas featured in the original. Capcom has developed many timeless hits in the past like Dead Rising, Devil May Cry, Dino Crisis, Mega Man and Resident Evil.

Plot

In the first Lost Planet, we played as a man rescued from death by the Snow Pirates, engaged in hunting for various huge monsters and beasts inhabiting a planet mostly covered with snow and ice. The game consisted of performing various tasks commissioned by the command - usually exterminating enemies. Besides walking on foot, we could also control interesting vehicles (robots).

Lost Planet 2 continues the themes of the original. The game brings us closer to the events taking place 10 years after the finale of the first game. Again, we move to the surface of the ice-bound planet E.D.N. III. The title does not tell the story of one hero, but brings several active groups of Snow Pirates closer, presenting the whole story from different perspectives.

Over the course of the decade, the global climate on the planet has changed a little, so this time we can visit locations that aren't covered with thick snow and ice. We frequently operate in completely different places - for example in a tropical jungle. Our opponent is still an alien race known as Akrid.

Mechanics

Our character can use different types of weapons - from ordinary rifles to powerful rotary cannons and rocket launchers. Characters can also use other types of equipment, allowing, for example, to get into hard-to-reach places (line with hook) and defend against enemy fire (shields). The mechs known from the first game are back, and the combat itself is extremely dynamic and fast.

Technical aspects

Graphically, Lost Planet 2 offers well-made locations and models of individual characters, as well as numerous spectacular special effects. Again, we take part in battles with really giant insects. The creators have prepared an interesting co-operative mode for up to four people. In addition to this, the game has many other forms of online fun. The main producer of this work is Jun Takeuchi, known for example from Resident Evil 5.
