developer: Square Enix publisher: Square Enix
Lord of Apocalypse, released on PSP and PSV, is a typical representative of Japanese RPG games, which means that we spend most of our time exploring the world, participate in dynamic and arcade battles and develop our character's statistics.
Plot
Square-Enix takes us back to the world of Horodyn, known from Lord of Arcana. The threat from the forces of darkness has been eliminated, but the security of this land filled with magic and monsters won't last forever. Once again, we are in the very center of a spectacular intrigue in which the mysterious stone of Arcana plays an important role.
Mechanics
The creators tried to develop almost every aspect of the first game. The presented story is, in comparison to the previous one, more complex, and the options of character development and the equipment options have undergone fundamental changes, extending the functionality of this aspect of the game. The combat system has also undergone small improvements but still maintaining a distinct arcade character. We have access to many attacks and deadly combinations meaning that no opponent will pose a threat to us.
Game modes
Like its predecessor, Lord of Apocalypse places great emphasis on multiplayer mode. The campaign can be played alone or together with friends, in cooperation mode. During the fights, we can be accompanied by up to three additional players.
Technical aspects
Lord of Apocalypse is characterized by a good, as for the standards of mobile consoles, graphic design. The whole was designed in the style characteristic for Japanese RPG games, and the gameplay is diversified by carefully prepared animated cut-scenes. The design of the characters and monsters was done by Tsubasa Masao, known from the previous part, who is highly regarded among fans of Japanese productions.
