Life is Strange Video Game Series
Life is Strange is a series of TPP adventure games inspired by the works of Telltale Games studio, among others. The series was created by the French team of DONTNOD Entertainment, and its publisher is Square Enix, which in time handed over custody of its development to the Deck Nine team. Games from under this banner can be found primarily on PCs and consoles, but the first two have also appeared on mobile devices.
A brief history of the Life is Strange series
The first episode of Life is Strange - subtitled Chrysalis - was released in late January 2015. Each subsequent one came out roughly two months after the release of the previous one, and the fifth, or final one, appeared on the market in October of that year. The production received an unusually warm receptionso, forging iron while hot, the authors set to work on the second installment of the series.
In the meantime, the publisher entrusted the Deck Nine team to prepare a prequel to the "one", which was released in August 2017 Life is Strange: Before the Storm. June 2018 brought the release of yet another side game from under the described banner, the single-episode and free-to-play The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit. The debut episode of Life is Strange 2 appeared, however, three months later.
While the the first installment of the series Life is Strange was an artistic and commercial hit, the second part of the series, although it still presented a fairly high level, failed to repeat its success. Square Enix therefore decided to hand over custody of the development of the brand to the Deck Nine team, which in 2021 delivered the third main installment of the series, titled Life is Strange: True Colors. Unlike its predecessors, the production was released in its entirety, rather than in consecutive episodes - although clearly maintaining the division into chapters.
The beginning of 2022 was marked for the brand by a Life is Strange Remastered Collection, as well as a spin-off that is a free, unofficial continuation of the first part of the series, titled Life is Strange: Aftermath. We had to wait until 2024 for an official sequel to Max Caulfield's first adventure, when a full-fledged fourth installment in the series was announced and subsequently released, namely. Life is Strange: Double Exposure (again from Deck Nine).
Plot and gameplay in the games in the Life is Strange series
The individual installments of the series Life is Strange allow us to take on the roles of different characters, who struggle with various problems and are forced to deal with their supernatural abilities. For example, Max Caulfield, the protagonist of Life is Strange i Life is Strange: Double Exposure, can manipulate time, which she tries to use to prevent tragic events, while Alex from Life is Strange: True Colors is able to absorb other people's emotions and manipulate them, which can help her unravel the mystery of her brother's death.
A distinctive feature of all titles in the series Life is Strange is the non-linearity of the plot. It is to it that the other elements of the gameplay are subordinated - exploration, interactions with characters or the possible power or ability that the characters we control have. It is also important to make decisions that carry consequences, which significantly affect both the environment and the characters.
Graphics in games from the Life is Strange series
Each installment of the series Life is Strange boasts distinctive visuals, reminiscent of pastel drawings. The first installment uses an improved version of Unreal Engine 3, Before the Storm was created using Unity, while The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit, Life is Strange 2 i Life is Strange: True Colors were developed on Unreal Engine 4.

Life is Strange
Adventure
January 30, 2015
An episodic adventure game created by the developers of Remember Me, a French studio DONTNOD. The game bears a resemblance to Telltale Games titles. Its protagonist is a 12th grade student named Max Caulfield, who returns to her home town in Oregon after years of absence. Together with her old friend she tries to solve the mysterious disappearance of her schoolmate, which prompts a series of strange events. The story is the essential part for the game, whereas gameplay mechanics are based on the well-proven formula employed by Telltale, which combines free exploration and difficult choices with non-obvious consequences. An interesting addition to the gameplay is the fact that Max possesses the power to manipulate time, allowing you to experience another version of events without having to restart an entire episode. On the technical side, the game is well-designed and well-executed, featuring expressive, slightly cartoonish graphics.
